Making of: Queen Elena (a.k.a Mom)

Happy 47th Birthday to my mom! 

I know she had wanted me to make a doll of her for a while and now she has one of her own. I got a custom framed shadow box built to match the Queen theme perfectly. In a way I wanted to make this look like an old royal portrait painting, but sculpture version of course. I had to add lots of detail to this one, even though it wasn't a full body piece. The hardest part was probably the hair - mixing various types of blonde to make it look like blonde streaks and highlights.  The outfit and jewels were the most fun. I love making all the little details, which in the end give each doll that "real human" touch.
